2017 Printable Calendar Free Download

2017 Printable Calendar Free Download • Little Gold Pixel

Good riddance to 2016.

Don’t get me wrong. There were some good times. Moving to a house with a legit back yard, making the leap to full-time entrepreneur, passing out on the couch after eating too many cookies this Christmas.

Still, I am more than a little sour on this year and ready to move on to 2017.

For starters, the election + the myriad human rights violations we saw this year.

For enders, all my girlhood touchstones are dropping like flies. I’m still not over David Bowie, let alone Prince and George Michael. Not to mention Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

So, 2017, I welcome you with open arms and eager anticipation. Fingers crossed.

Let’s get to work and turn lemons into lemonade!

This is the third year I’ve shared my minimal calendar with you, changing it up ever so slightly with the treatment of the “months.” In 2015, I used oversized typography. In 2016, the months were hand-drawn in heavy marker. For 2017 I drew the months in bounce lettering.

High-res PDF includes each month in 8.5×11 format. For personal use only. Share with friends. Tag @littlegoldpixel on Instagram so I can see how you’re using your calendar!

Christmas Confections Free Art Printable

Christmas Confections Art Printables • Little Gold Pixel

Today I’m sharing my latest mini collection with you, and just in the nick of time! (Get it, St. Nick? Har har har.)

I call it Christmas Confections. There are three versions, each with typography of holiday-themed treats on them, including eggnog, gingerbread, popcorn balls, cherry cordials and other things I don’t know how to make but love to eat.

Back in the day my dad used to make a wonderful concoction called Cherry Mash, which is similar to the candy if you’ve had one of those. It was my absolute favorite thing about Christmas, but finding cherry chips is rather difficult if you don’t live in the Midwest. At least that’s been my experience.

So for all these years, Dad’s Cherry Mash has been nothing but a fond memory in the corner of my mind.

But I’m having an a-ha! moment over here today. One of the commenters on this recipe suggested adding cherry extract to white chips (and food coloring) to mimic the look and flavor of the cherry chips. Genius!

There may be Cherry Mash for me in the near future, friends. It’s a Christmas miracle.

What’s your favorite Christmas candy/cookie? Does it have a family history behind it? I’m always curious about these things.

How did it get to be Dec. 20th already? An Atomic Christmas Freebie to Make Your Holiday Bright

An Atomic Christmas Freebie to Make Your Holiday Bright • Little Gold Pixel

Guys, something crazy is happening. The Atomic Christmas look that I love and have been thrifting for several years is now in stores this season.

I first spotted it on Black Friday at several stores — that oh-so-midcentury tinsel, aisles of pointy bulbs, the teardrop shapes. Atomic pink, pink, pink.

If you’re drawing a blank trying to picture what I’m talking about, search atomic+Christmas on Pinterest. Oh yeah, see what I mean?

Anyway, seeing all those pretties out in the world made me want to watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, drink a pink squirrel cocktail and design an atomic-inspired freebie for your ho-ho-holiday walls. Enjoy!

Ultimate Tech Gifts for Designers

Ultimate Tech Gifts for Designers • Little Gold Pixel

This gift guide for designers is sponsored by Brydge.

I don’t know about you, but in this house we have a lot of form vs. function debates. This tends to happen when one person is a designer and another person is … normal.

Yes, I will admit it. Designers can be a finicky bunch. We want pretty and we want it to work. Sometimes these things are not mutually exclusive. Take for example the conversation I had with the Geek Squad about how we should route wires because I did not want to see them. Not even a little.

Wires = hell to a designer.

Oh, and there’s the conversation I had with H about a massage chair, which happens to be at the top of his wish list. He is very specific about what he wants (read: mall massage chair, ugly leg grips included), and he will not be swayed by my sleek, beautiful alternatives (read: but these do not have ugly leg grips, which are super important to the experience!). We are at an impasse.

Anyway, now that we’re in the middle of gift-giving season, I have been hoarding away links to tech items that I find aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. These are gifts that fall in the category of “I want them myself” and “Please buy these for me.” Maybe you’ll feel the same way about them! Or maybe you know and love a designer who would want these things (they will).

Brydge keyboard: I love that this sleek keyboard looks like it is part of the iPad, turning it into a laptop so you can work on the go. Colors include gold (my fave!). This keyboard has been hailed by design and tech experts, so you know it’s the ultimate in form + function. Plus it has a patented hinge for 180 degree viewing angles, backlit keys, and three-month rechargeable battery.

Apple Pencil: Can’t you just see me sitting in the airport with my Brydge keyboard and Apple pencil? What am I up to? TCB, man. TCB.

Sensu brush & stylus: A for-real painting experience on your device!

Boogie Board: LCD writing/sketching tablet you can fit in your handbag. Sign me up.

Wacom tablet: I can’t live without mine. It’s how I draw digitally, and this latest installment has a fresh, clean design.

USB hub: If you’ve ever wanted more ports on your Macbook (hello!), this looks ideal.

iPhone key: Never be without a charger again. It’s a keychain! It’s a charger! It’s a must-have.

Lifta desk organizer: What could be more satisfying than hiding your keyboard and mouse at the end of the day, leaving a beautiful, empty desk? Nothing, I say.

Pantone color matcher: Now, this is a pie-in-the-sky wish list item, for sure, but isn’t it cool?

Wireless stick: Because designers HATE wires. HATE, with a fiery hot passion.

Wireless mouse: A cool design + no wires? The best stocking stuffer a designer could ask for.

Aether Cone: This music player learns your music tastes and plays what you like. The future is now. Plus, it looks sweet in black/copper.

Excuse me while I stop drooling over these gifts for designers. Santa, baby, you know what to do.
