And the countdown continues in my quest to watch Yahoo’s 100 Movies to See Before You Die. Mission: to find something inspiring in each and every one. Today we have two femme fatales.
“Stand up straight,” my mom would say. Posture was very important to her, and I understand why when I see candid photos of myself being lazy at the neck, flashing a double chin to everyone around. But Mom might’ve made an exception for Faye Dunaway. Nobody slouches like Faye Dunaway. She’s slouching all over this movie, on cars, on beds, after getting shot with a million bullets. Not a double chin in sight. That’s something to aspire to.
In the course of 30 minutes, Jean Seberg changes clothes at least six times. Each time, she puts on another striped outfit, and each one is better than the last. I’d love to raid this wardrobe. I also love the fact that she’s playing an American who every five minutes asks, “Qu’est-ce que c’est (insert French word here)?” I’d be doing the same thing if I were in France. I’d also turn to my comfort question, asking where the library is over and over again like a broken record.
