This month I’m introducing my sponsors through individual posts. Today I’m thrilled to toss the reins to Janel from Run With Scissors. She has a fabulous DIY to share with us, one that is so detailed that even I might not botch it. I’m in awe of her crafty prowess, and her blog is full of cool stuff. Please take a moment to click over and give her a bear hug. Or just say hi, if you’re shy or something.
Hello Everyone! My name is Janel, and you can find me daily over at Run With Scissors. Run With Scissors is my little corner of the web where I blog about life, adoption, crafty things, vintage, decor, and DIY projects. Speaking of DIY projects … your lovely friend Vanessa is allowing me to share a sweet little DIY with you today that I made for our nursery. My husband and I are currently in the process of adoption and my newest obsession has been creating a nursery full of hand made love for our soon to be baby girl.
When I was searching for the PERFECT wall clock for our nursery, I stumbled onto a bunch of ones that I liked, but none that I loved. When I saw this clock:
I knew that I would be able to create something similar but with the shape, size, simplicity, and color scheme that I wanted. 🙂
Today, I am going to share it with you!
First of all, here are the materials that I used for this project:
1. an oval shaped piece of cut wood
2. two tubes of acrylic paint
3. paint brush
4. clock kit
5. and a drill (not pictured)
I was able to score all of these items at the craft store, and with coupons, my total was under $7.00.
Grab your piece of wood and paint it with your background color choice.
I painted mine plain old white 🙂
When your board is dry, draw an image onto your base LIGHTLY with a pencil. This will be the part that you want painted in with your second color choice.
I drew a simple outline of a horse for my clock.
Paint in your image 🙂
While your image is drying, you can paint your clock hands to match your clock as well. When I purchased my clock kit, they only had gold hands and didn’t think that they would look so good with my clock so I decided to paint them white.
Flip your clock over and mark the center of your shape 🙂
Drill your hole according to the size indicated on your clock kit and fit it in!
Add your clock hands, put in a battery, and Ta-Da! You have an amazing, hand made, super easy clock.
Thank you so much for checking out my little project today! Make sure to stop by my blog and say hello!!
