You just want to have a good time this summer, the summer before your 17th birthday, but all your friends are interested in one thing only: going on manhunts so they can flaunt their big bosoms at the beach. You go for a swim to get away from the silliness of it all when you get tangled in a bunch of kelp. A surfer rushes to your aid and rides you ashore on a nice curl.
That does it! You are going to join the gang of surfer dudes, led by The Kahuna, and learn how to ride the waves (even if they give you a mean nickname — girl + midget = gidget). All you need is $25 so you can buy a used board. But darn it, all you have left of your allowance is $4. No worries. Your parents are thrilled that you are surfing instead of smooching, so they hand over the cash.
