Hello, friends! I’ve been meaning to tell you all about a feat of modern engineering that I accomplished a few weeks ago. Wait for it, wait for it. OK, I’ll tell you now. Lean over, I’ll whisper in your ear. I BAKED A LAYERED CAKE FROM SCRATCH! And it was good.
I felt positively Martha Stewart when I was frosting the masterpiece. So the frosting wasn’t perfect, but it was perfectly delicious. Sorry, I meant to take a picture of a glorious intact slice, but I lost control and took a bite first. Oops.
Now that I’m an official baker, I should invest in a cake stand. I’m loving this upcycled one, this handmade one, and this vintage one.
Find the recipe here. We did without the pecans, but I’m sure they’d be a nice touch.
