Let me state for the record that I LOVE THIS MOVIE. It has weaseled its way into my top 20 of all time. Maybe even top 10. Definitely top 20. I know, real shocker, a photographer loving a movie about a photographer. It was difficult to pick one still from this film, but this one shows a little of the awesomeness that is David Hemmings’ studio in Swinging London. It has huge rafters and so much space and equipment it makes my head spin. Plus, Hemmings’ white pants and the young Vanessa Redgrave. One of my favorite scenes is when Hemmings goes to an antique store and buys a propeller, for no reason whatsoever, then is shocked that it doesn’t fit in his ultra mod sports car. Classic! I could yammer on and on about the movie, but I’ll stop before I ruin the murder-mystery plot.

As a friend said, if you love David Lynch, you love this movie. I’m pretty sure I’m infatuated with David Lynch, but we’re not in love. I haven’t seen all his work, but I love “Mulholland Drive” and the first part of “Twin Peaks.” This movie had me raising my eyebrows a little. That being said, there’s plenty of inspirational moments, my favorite being when Dean Stockwell lipsynchs “In Dreams.” Using a worklight as a microphone, the lighting is gorgeous. No one can create a creepy mood like Lynch, that’s a fact.
