Yay! It’s Freebie Friday, which means I’m sharing these free rainbow art printables with you today.
I have rainbows on the brain lately!
After last week’s pride rainbow, I started sketching around in Procreate using rough brushes only to find myself finessing these modern, monochromatic versions.
First, I set out to create rainbow art that was unexpected yet inexplicably pleasant.
As in, something so sweet you could imagine hanging it in a kid’s bedroom but at the same time something so sophisticated you could imagine hanging it in your own bedroom.
You might be surprised that I used neutral colors in the original sketch: tans, beiges, browns. Totally unlike me!
And although it looked nice, the result was not really “me.” So I played around with color palettes after I finished layering the arches of the rainbow.
The end result: a warm, retro pink/mauve and a dusty, off-kilter purple.
I love that the colors aren’t richly saturated or overly bubblegum. The colors are understated and dare I say moody chic, which I find oddly pleasing.
They have that je ne sais quoi, you know.
Which one do you like better? Pink or purple? Can’t decide? It’s OK, neither can I.
Finally, scroll down to download a PDF with both rainbows to use in your personal home decor!
