Top 5 Moments of Spontaneous Dancing

Top 5 Moments of Spontaneous Dancing • Little Gold Pixel

It’s no secret that dance movies and I go together like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. But did you know that this love of dance goes beyond the screen and onto a dance floor near you? Yes, friends, I love to shake my groove thang under the prerequisites of dim lighting, fast tunes and gallons upon gallons of alcohol. I even enthusiastically support line dances because they satisfy my lifelong dream of joining a crowd of people in spontaneous synchronized dance. I fully blame the films of my youth for creating such an impossible standard.

Sure, line dances will suffice in a jam. YMCA, Macarena, the Electric Slide. But they’ve all got one thing in common: The music sucks.

Here, I move that we revolutionize spontaneous dancing. I’ve picked out a few favorites to inspire us, from both the past and the present (thank you flash mobs for taking it to another level).

1. “Twist and Shout” via Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Best part: All of it.

2. “Praise You,” Fatboy Slim
Best part: The move I call “lords-a-leapin'” at 1:21.

3. “Beat It” via Seattle flash mob
Best part: The whole thing.

4. “We Go Together” via Grease
Best part: Duck waddle, 1:38.

5. Sound of Music at Central Station Antwerp (Belgium)
Best part: Breaking it down @ 2:10.
