Here’s the latest Fashion Forward, in which we turn to 1980s Los Angeles for some Roller Boogie inspired fashion.
In order to escape your tough life as a genius flautist in Beverly Hills, you put on the tightest short shorts and tank top you own and tell your parents you’re going to kill yourself. Just kidding. They’re not listening anyway. You go to Venice beach instead, where you meet this groovy skater, Bobby.
You offer to pay him to teach you how to roller skate, disco-style. You flirt a lot, and you have a few misunderstandings about money and prostitution, but then you decide to skate together in a contest to help save your favorite skate rink. And you fall in love.
But after you win the contest you say your goodbyes and head to Juilliard to play the flute. What a drag! What a bummer! Why didn’t you stay? Well, you’re in love, but you’re not crazy. You promise Bobby you’ll write.
You’re Linda Blair in “Roller Boogie,” the antithesis of “The Exorcist.”
