7 Blogs You’ll Want to Savor

7 Blogs to Bookmark & Savor • Little Gold Pixel

I read a lot of blogs. I mean a lot. I might even read your blog, you never know.

As I’m scrolling through my reader, I sometimes have to make hasty choices about which posts get my full attention and which ones get a cursory glance (time, that mean jerk, there just aren’t enough hours in the day).

There are a handful of blogs that I save, sometimes for weeks, so I can binge-read all the content at once and savor it.

I thought I’d share them with you today. Bookmark for later, and enjoy!

7 Blogs to Bookmark & Savor

1. Shutterbean

Why? I draw so much inspiration from Tracy. (Just look over to my “topics” design in the sidebar to see how I borrowed a page from her book.) I identify with her style and her vibe. Not only is she relatable and her blog posts fun to read, she is forever killing it on Instagram with her wry observations and beautiful imagery from San Francisco. Her love of food is apparent, and her photography is top-notch.

The best: A tie between her Thursday Snacks and her meal-prep photos on Instagram

2. Mimi Smartypants

Why? I’ve been reading this text-only Chicago-based blog since the early 2000s, and it never disappoints. Updates are few and far between nowadays, but there’s always the archives. I think of Mimi Smartypants as the Seinfeld of bloggers. She can take an everyday tale of minuitae and make you gut laugh.

The best: Chicago transit horror stories.

3. Modern Mrs. Darcy

Why? Anne is a master of writing about things that start conversations. The comments section is often just as lively as her post, whether it be about books, personality types, or your favorite things to buy at Trader Joe’s, you will immediately feel introspective after reading this blog.

The best: Start anywhere, but maybe with 11 Books That Are Better in the Spring.

4. Girl’s Gone Child

Why? Rebecca’s blog was one of the first ones I started reading when I found out I was pregnant. She can write. It’s interesting: Her life feels so dreamy — the fairytale children (seriously, their names are Archer, Fable, Boheme and Reverie) and storybook life in Los Angeles — but she never pulls punches. She gets REAL, but somehow everything is more beautiful in the process. Just dig in and get used to her world.

The best: How kids can change our perspective on body image.

5. Everyday Reading

Why? Janssen writes about the exploits of her growing family (newest edition Star is just two months old), all the way keeping a cheeky sense of humor and effortlessly winding interesting/helpful information throughout. She’s a maestro like that.

The best: Her Summer Unplugged series last year was a great way to find good kids books.

6. Enjoy It / Elise Blaha

Why? I’ve been reading Elise’s blog since before she got married, following her entrepreneurial adventures from San Diego up the coast and back down to San Diego again, through her first pregnancy and now starting her second. All the while she sets goals like no one’s business and works her butt off to meet them. She puts it all out there, and it’s fun to be along for the ride.

The best: Her behind-the-scenes posts.

7. Oh Dear Drea

Why? Drea writes about being a vegan mom in Florida. I’ve been reading since she was a single mom, and her genuine nature shines through in everything she does. Her world is colorful and she writes in stream-of-consciousness in a way I can only call Drea-ese. It’s imperfectly perfect and her life is enchanting.

The best: What Marlowe Eats — a series about feeding her kid vegan food (and I’m not vegan but I swear her food looks amazing)

Do you read any of these blogs? Are there any blogs I should add to my reading list? Do you write a blog? Leave a link in the comments below, and I’ll check them out.
