Something funny happened last weekend.
I was playing with Alexa in her room. This is code for “I was cleaning Alexa’s room while she tried on all her clothes.” We came across some baby leg warmers that she hadn’t worn in a long time. She proceeded to take off her pants and put on the leg warmers. She then stood up and started to run in place.
“Look, Mama, I’m dancing!” she said. Not only was she dancing, she was dancing just like Jennifer Beals in Flashdance. (Or should I say Jennifer Beals’ body double?)
I kid you not.
I don’t recall watching Flashdance with her. I mean, it could’ve happened. I love bad dance movies, so it’s totally within the realm of possibility. Either way, she has some killer dance moves.
There would be video of this milestone moment if I hadn’t seized the opportunity to queue up “Maniac” on Spotify instead.
Yes, I did. It. Was. Awesome. Take my word for it.
(She even did a little breakdancing.)
Alexa’s not the only one taking style advice from Flashdance lately. While we were in Hawaii, I wore an off-the-shoulder crop top nearly every day. It was borderline ridiculous how awesome I felt in this get-up. Now I want to dress like this daily, but it’s way too casual for the office. So, every weekend?
Maybe I’ll challenge Alexa to a dance-off.
