Today’s modern eclectic gallery walls come from Washington, where Meegan lives with her family.

Here, Meegan shares the secrets to her home style, including the magic of trying new things.

My name is Meegan Buschor and I live in Olympia, Washington. I live with my husband and our four children. I love tropical vacations, chocolate, dancing, and of course, interior design.

I have lived in Olympia, Washington, USA my whole life!

Olympia is an expanding town that’s an hour south of Seattle. We have a lot of hippies, coffee drinkers, and outdoorsy types!

Ask anyone and they will tell you that the summers here are incomparable. We live in a neighborhood that is perfect for our kids to ride bikes and be close to their friends.

We have definitely always dreamed of living somewhere sunny, but we love having our family around and I do miss that dang rain.

We have lived in our house for four years this summer.

We bought it two kids ago, so now with four children total — it feels full! Of course I always think that bigger would be better, but we do fit well.

There are four bedrooms, our master, our oldest (15 yrs) has his own room, our youngest (2 yrs) has her own bedroom, and then the middle two share the second master of the home. (3yrs, 5yrs)

We have done a lot of work to it which has definitely helped with it feeling a bit more open and warm.

Fantasy house guest: Chip and Joanna Gaines. That may sound cliché, but I just love them and think that they are an awesome couple. I believe that my husband and Chip have a lot in common and both Chip and Joanna are such an inspiration. We’d drink Palomas (tequila, lime juice, club soda, and grapefruit juice) because they are delicious and talk about their journey. As well as bond over the craziness of large families! I hope that she would like my style and see a bit of her own in it.

I feel that I am drawn to just about everything.

I love bits of MCM, bohemian, eclectic, organic, and of course since I mentioned the Gaines, some modern farmhouse.

I just find what I like, or what I am attracted to, and stick with it.

Problems arise when I try to define my style, because then I think that I have to fit into a certain box and I begin to question my taste and decisions.

On making decor decisions

My style is always evolving.

I do like to keep up with trends, but as I am maturing, so is my taste. I have learned, particularly since starting my business, that I have got to love something (decor, furniture, artwork) or I will not be happy with the end result.

The fun thing about having an Instagram account is that it motivates me to try new things, and to constantly shift the decor in my home. It has made me better and has also helped me hone in on staying true to my style.

Pop culture influences: My favorite tv show of all time is Friends. Hands down. Best show ever. I can’t say that my decor choices are impacted by my taste in pop culture. But to be fair, I hardly have the time to keep up on pop culture anyway!

Favorite shops: My go-tos for sure are Target, World Market, and IKEA. The price points are the best, and they always have something I must have!

Finding inspiration: My absolute favorite designer is Anissa Zajac from House Seven Design. I have followed along with her career for years and I can’t say enough about her style. I think it just speaks to my soul. I also like Amber Interiors because her mix of styles is absolutely amazing, everything she touches is gold. And Leanne Ford is definitely inspiring to me. Her style is untamed and creative.

On the gallery wall process

The answer depends on what type of gallery wall that you want to have.

My largest gallery wall is made up of pieces that have sentimental value to me. The wall above my staircase is an eclectic collection of artwork that means something to myself and to my husband.

Because it’s a free for all, it’s colorful and no two items look alike.

However, I did make sure that the frames compliment one another to help it appear more grounded and not so random.

Ready? You do you. I have gallery walls that are symmetrical, and some that are not. Colorful or neutral. Just stick with what you like and that will make you happy.

I will say that depending on the style you are going for or are attracted to, will change the way you curate your gallery. I either bring my galleries together by the colors, frames, or sizes.

I used to be obsessed with color and you would not know it by looking at my house!

Now, I love neutrals and natural colors.

They feel the warmest to me and I love that I can bring just about any decor item or art piece from one room to another and it still fits the room.

Black and White Ocean by Poppi Photography: Kristina, the photographer, is a close friend of mine and I have multiple photographs of hers in my home. We met because she took our family photos and over the years her talent has grown into landscapes, particularly the ocean. We both share a love for it and I knew I had to have this one in my house.

Charcoal Lady: Not to get to deep here, but I only met the artist, my sister, Kailee, nearly 3 years ago. I was adopted and met my birth family in the Fall of 2016. It was so exciting to see the similarities between myself and my dad and siblings. Not just the way we look, but our artistic abilities and interests. She had drawn this for a final while going to FIDM in Los Angeles, California. I told her how much I loved it and for our first Christmas as sisters (sounds odd) she gifted this to me.

Make Art Not War: This poster was one of the posters on my husband, Curtis’s, walls when we were dating. He had just come home from a year-long deployment in Iraq and his life, as you can imagine, had shifted quite dramatically. I took over his house pretty instantly and through several moves the original poster he had was destroyed. When we bought this house I knew that I wanted to buy it for him as a piece of him in our home. He more often than not, allows me to take the reins when it comes to decor. I love having something that has meaning to the both of us.

Family Portraits: I recently received these drawings from Tove Dalsryd, an artist from Sweden. She introduced herself to me through Instagram and I sent her two photographs that my friend, Kristina from Poppi Photography, had taken. She drew these based from those images. I love their simplicity and sentiment.
