Now that maximalist decor is a thing right now (or, as I lovingly refer to it, Modern Glam), I’ve been sharing roundups of free printables that would be right at home in these luxurious, cozy rooms.

Previously it was free abstract art and free portrait art. Now it’s free pop art.

What exactly do I mean by “pop art”?

When you hear the phrase, I’m sure Andy Warhol comes to mind, along with Campbell’s soup labels and multiple multicolored images of Marilyn Monroe.

Or perhaps you think about Roy Lichtenstein and his iconic comic parodies.

In other words, the movement was a direct juxtaposition to fine art because it pulled inspiration from pop culture, advertising, comic books and random, everyday items.

How to get that maximalist pop art vibe in your house? Hint: Don’t try too hard.

Distinctions include bright colors and a subversive sense of humor.

Many maximalists sprinkle in elements of pop art to give their walls a cheeky vibe.

Free Pop Art: My Tips & Tricks

While undoubtedly the best pop art will set you back a bit in your wallet, you can start with what I call Pop Art Lite.

Continue reading for a few of my tips on finding free pop art and getting comfortable decorating with it.

1. Search stock photo sites.

I found several of these pieces by going to free stock photo sites like Pexels and Unsplash and searching “pop art.”

Some of my favorite finds were bright, colorful photography that felt tongue-in-cheek.

Additionally, you might come across some public pop art that a photographer snapped a shot of.

2. Pick a color and go with it.

When you have art that’s brightly colored, it helps feel more cohesive if there’s one unifying color throughout.

This doesn’t mean you have to go monochrome.

For instance, if you can bring threads of pink throughout your gallery wall, with a few pop art pieces that are mostly pink, it will look well thought out.

3. Don’t take yourself seriously.

Keep in mind, your home isn’t a museum! If you have a sense of humor about your artwork, you’ll rarely go wrong.

Lastly, look out for pop culture items you find the most interesting to really insert your personality and wit into your wall art.
